Interim Head of Benefits, EMEA/APAC - 14m FTC

Under the direction of the VP, Global Benefits, this role will provide maternity cover for the Head of Benefits, EMEA/APAC and be responsible for strategy and delivery of employee benefit programs to employees in the EMEA and APAC regions.

Leading a small team based in London, this role will provide day-to-day direction regarding strategy, administration and compliance of all health, risk and pension benefits. You will be the local subject matter expert regarding design, compliance, communication and vendor management. There are several key initiatives underway that you will advance during your time with Columbia Threadneedle Investments.

You will be a strategic partner working across the HR organisation to enable our HR Operating Model by bringing deep subject matter expertise, strong thought leadership and collaboration skills to continue evolving how we operate and enhance the overall employee experience.

How you'll spend your time...

Manage EMEA/APAC benefits team to ensure all health, risk and pension plans are operated in an appropriately controlled, efficient and accurate manner to meet company objectives and regulatory requirements.

Responsible for the management of all vendor relationships for in-scope plans to optimize company investment and deliver a superior employee experience

Lead the effective communication of all benefit programs, in partnership with Corporate Communications, to ensure compliance requirements are met and an appropriately positioned employee experience plan is executed to ensure awareness and proper utilization of available plans

Ensuring ongoing collaboration with current pension Trustee Boards and third party advisers, ensuring appropriate liaison between all parties.  

Collaborating with other EMEA HR and Global Leads to contribute to key HR projects and deliver on HR goals.  

Lead and/or participate in special projects with the broader global benefits team, including the following:

-Assessment and implementation of pension strategy and governance arrangements, particularly in the UK, including implementation of a governance model for two legacy defined benefit pension plans and ongoing harmonization of defined contribution plans
     -Coordinate all company-related aspects of pension plan valuation(s) and audit(s)
     -Overview of annual health and risk plan renewals, including intended review of life and income protection covers that could result in movement to a new insurance partner
     -Annual enrolment activities
   -Process review and simplification that is aligned with our HR Operating Model


To be successful in this role you will have...

Demonstrated and successful broad experience with health and risk benefit program, including plan design, compliance requirements, vendor capabilities and engagement tactics. Understanding of emerging trends

Experience working with both DC and DB pension schemes, with strong technical knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements. 

High level of analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills in dealing with a wide range stakeholders and external advisers in a global, matrixed organization.

Proven experience in identifying barriers to change when implementing initiatives and finding ways to manage or reduce them.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to communicate complex information in a straightforward way. 

Strong vendor management skills

Able to effectively navigate complex situations to reach an appropriate outcome

Able to prioritize conflicting and cross-organizational demands

Able to work independently and exhibit strong initiative and judgement
