Job Title: Integration Engineer Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Integration Engineer to support a satellite development program within a Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HWIL) laboratory environment. This role is critical in ensuring full hardware/software integration through internal, closed‑loop test systems that emulate on‑orbit behavior. The engineer will work closely with hardware teams, software developers, and the HSI Lead to validate system performance, troubleshoot issues, and support continuous testing cycles. Responsibilities + Perform hardware/software integration (HSI) within a closed‑loop HWIL lab environment. + Load software builds onto satellite subsystem hardware and emulated components to execute integration and verification testing. + Work with lab hardware engineers to perform the physical setup, cabling, and hardware connections; ensure software loads and test configurations are correctly deployed. + Execute test procedures to validate system operation across multiple subsystems such as filter wheel, solid‑state recorder, and cryogenic components. + Troubleshoot issues across hardware, software, and system interfaces; identify root causes and escalate firmware‑related anomalies when needed. + Collaborate closely with the HSI Lead to coordinate schedules, test runs, and integration milestones. + Work with a mix of real hardware and sophisticated emulators that replicate satellite behavior and interfaces. + Document test results, defects, and integration findings clearly and accurately. + Support verification of end‑to‑end functionality to ensure readiness for system‑level testing. Essential Skills + Experience in hardware/software integration, embedded systems testing, or similar lab‑based engineering environments. + Strong troubleshooting skills in systems that combine hardware, software, and interface components. + Ability to run structured test procedures and follow technical documentation. + Comfortable working with or around firmware issues. + Solid understanding of software builds, deployment, and test execution in complex systems. + Ability to work onsite 100% in a hands‑on, hardware‑focused environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in satellite systems, aerospace hardware, or closed‑loop simulation environments. + Familiarity with hardware emulators and electrical/mechanical test equipment. + Exposure to subsystems such as filter wheels, solid‑state recorders, cryogenic mechanisms, or similar hardware. + Strong communication skills for working with cross‑functional engineering teams. + Background in software engineering, systems engineering, or integration/test engineering.
