Job Description

Join a dynamic team that specializes in scaffolding services and mechanical insulation for significant projects, including mechanical and wall insulation for ships. Be a part of exciting endeavors such as the Joint Support Ship and the upcoming Polar Icebreaker.

Responsibilities

Apply, remove, and repair thermal and acoustical insulation on various industrial equipment including duct piping, heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels.Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements.Select appropriate insulation and method of securing it based on equipment specifications and conditions.Measure and cut insulating materials to fit around obstructions and apply protective coverings.Install vapor barriers and finish insulated surfaces with metal cladding, canvas, PVC, or cement.

Essential Skills

Registered insulation apprentice or Journeyman.Proficient with hand and power tools.Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).Completion of Construction Safety Training System (CSTS).Reliable transportation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in insulation, carpentry, or sheet metal.Strong English communication skills.Canadian citizenship.

Work Environment

Work at the shipyards in North Vancouver with a dedicated team of around 90 members. Enjoy the convenience of on-site parking and work on significant projects like the JSS1, JSS2, and Polar Icebreaker. The standard shift is Monday to Friday, starting at 5:45 am and ending at 4:00 pm, with opportunities for weekend overtime. Each workday consists of 10 hours (8 regular, 2 overtime).

The pay range for this position is $25.06 - $45.57/hr.
