Make a difference as aN Instructional Designer As an Instructional Designer at Bridgerland Technical College, you will be at the forefront of curriculum innovation, leveraging your expertise in various software applications, including HTML, Photoshop, and video editing tools like Camtasia and Premiere. Your essential duties will encompass developing and revising engaging content for both face-to-face and electronic formats, collaborating closely with subject matter experts to implement research-based best practices. You will adapt instructional materials across different modalities while keeping abreast of trends in teaching and learning theories as well as emerging technologies in distance education. In this role, you will support faculty in creating and revising online courses, ensuring sound curriculum design and effective use of instructional technology. Strong communication skills are crucial, as you will guide instructors on copyright laws and assist online students with technical issues, all while effectively managing multiple projects in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. Additionally, your capability to utilize web-based course management software and your experience in producing multimedia learning materials—encompassing print, graphics, audio, and animation—will be critical in assisting faculty with course development and delivering impactful training workshops. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: + Perform curriculum development and revisions in software applications such as HTML, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Camtasia, Quick Time, and other macromedia and video/audio editing packages. + Effectively utilize creative knowledge and expertise when developing face-to-face and electronic content. + Structure content and activities for engaging student learning. + Understand and set up online collaboration conferencing software when requested. + Create curriculum with subject matter experts from each department according to research-based best practices. + Adapt instructional materials created for one format to another medium/modality. + Gain knowledge of trends in teaching/learning theories, computer-based instruction, and distance learning. + Keep abreast of new technologies emerging in distance education, including new software, products, and their applications. + Perform duties required for building online courses in web-based learning systems, and use methods and software to capture and edit multimedia content for online courses. + Support faculty in the development or revision of online courses through the implementation of sound curriculum design, strategies, and effective use of instructional technology. + Understand and counsel instructors in copyright laws concerning internet publishing, and be able to apply copyright guidelines to generate curriculum. + Accurately, effectively, and concisely write and edit course content, college documents, and other content as needed. + Successfully work under pressure and attend to details. + Work independently and in a team environment. + Effectively work on multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines by prioritizing and completing projects in a timely manner. + Establish and maintain good working relationships with faculty, students, the college community, and the general public. + Communicate with online students via email and phone calls with regard to any technical issues that may arise with the management of the distance education system. + Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with diverse groups of individuals on technical and non-technical issues. + Provide individual and group training related to technologies used in distance education. + Use email, electronic calendars, word processing, project management, and presentation software. + Perform other related duties as assigned.
