We are looking for individuals who are passionate about working with children. The Instructional Assistant I assists in improving the quality of educational opportunities, supervision of students, and instructional tasks during school, as well as the before and after school program (Club Montessori). This is a great part-time opportunity to help student learn and grow and be a valuable part of our education team. This can be a great stepping stone into the education field. Summary/Objective: An Instructional Assistant I reports to the Principal and is responsible for assisting the Teacher in classrooms and classroom functions for all students including special education students as needed, and maintaining the well-being of all students in the before/after and/or intersession care program, Club Montessori. Essential Functions Apply knowledge of sound early childhood and elementary education, development concepts and principles within the Montessori goals and philosophy. Monitor and observe the daily operation of classrooms for safety, positive interaction and productive educational activity. Document related operation problems or progress and report suggestions to the Teacher for improvement and possible corrective action. Participate in monthly curriculum planning sessions with the Teacher. Direct classroom activities as assigned by the Teacher or Director. Create learning materials on a monthly basis as needed to complete lesson plans. Develop, prepare and implement lesson plans appropriate to children assigned under the supervision of the Teacher. Maintain a stimulating educational environment, directing children in a positive and respectful environment. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding child’s daily activities.
