Job Description

INSPECTOR/PACKER

PURPOSE:      

The Inspector/Packer position is an entry level position that is responsible for acting in a safe manner, while inspecting, packaging, and labeling finished goods. This position requires continuous standing, reaching and grabbing during 12 hour shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow all Berry safety and environmental policies and proceduresFollow OSHA rules and regulationsMonitor quality of product; inspects bottles for defects, inspects boxes for damage and properly follows customer pack patternsCommunicates and cooperates with other employees in a positive and constructive manner to achieve the Goals of the Department and the PlantAdhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines; wear protective clothing, long-sleeved shirt, jeans or slacks, hair net, latex gloves and practices good hygieneWilling and able to work overtime when neededIdentify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnelEffectively respond in an Emergency Situation such as Fire, and Accident and direct the activities of othersFollow all Department Procedures and Directives

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Properly seal, label and stack cartons of finished productPalletizes boxes weighing up to 35 lbs, band/utilizes pallet banders, moves pallets to staging area, operates pallet jack as required and trainedHand pack bottles according to written instructionsBasic entry level operation of packing equipmentClear product jams as needed and trainedEnsure needed packaging supplies and labels are in production areaPerforms basic housekeeping/5S; sweep, clean and wipe down machinery, maintains a clean and orderly work areaConsistently lift boxes that weigh up to 35lbs.Properly and completely fill out labels and paperworkVerify correct weights and countsStand for up to 12 hours a day packing bottles in cartonsConstruct cardboard boxes from collapsed cartonsWilling and able to work overtime when neededAll other duties as assigned
