Job Description
We are seeking diligent and professional Inspection Technicians to join our team. This entry-level position involves performing facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements. The role requires reliability, professionalism, and the ability to communicate effectively, as it involves entering customers' homes and interacting with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
+ Perform periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters.
+ Complete all necessary documentation accurately and timely.
+ Ensure readings and records comply with all company and regulatory requirements.
+ Support the successful completion of regulatory audits and inspections.
+ Conduct integrity surveys, including direct assessments and close interval surveys.
+ Perform audit reviews with operations and support them during audits.
Essential Skills
+ Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
+ Professional demeanor and good communication skills.
+ Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
+ Mechanical aptitude with a experience in cable technology, HVAC, piping, or auto mechanics is a plus.
+ Ability to work on your feet for 8 hours a day and walk several miles in various weather conditions.
+ Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.
+ Ability to interface with technical services, government agencies, emergency responders, and contractors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ 1+ year of driving experience.
+ Intermediate knowledge of mathematics and algebra.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Work Environment
This is a 100% field-based position within the utility territory, primarily in Brooklyn and Queens. Training includes OSHA and orientation sessions, followed by classroom instruction and field shadowing. Operations hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, with potential Saturday shifts upon request. Equipment provided includes a simple tool set, flashlight, gas detector, field binder, ID badges, and safety gear. Technicians must report to job sites using their own vehicle and will receive daily routes via a handheld tablet.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Island City, New York.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
