About the RoleAs an Inside Sales Representative at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in driving volume growth and maximizing profitability within an assigned territory. This position focuses on delivering industry-leading customer service, supporting operational excellence, and contributing to strategic sales execution. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
You will collaborate with outside sales representatives, internal operations, logistics teams, and other key stakeholders to ensure accurate order fulfillment and a seamless customer experience. This is an on-site role located in Chicago, IL.

What You’ll Do• Partner with outside sales representatives to drive revenue growth – Support joint sales efforts and ensure alignment on performance goals.
• Serve as the primary customer contact – Deliver consistent communication and provide industry-leading service to enhance relationships.
• Identify customer needs and provide tailored solutions – Strengthen customer satisfaction and support long-term retention.
• Execute outbound prospecting efforts – Expand the customer base through targeted outreach and cold calling.
• Manage customer service and order fulfillment processes – Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timely delivery from initial request through completion.
• Collaborate with internal teams on special-order requirements – Guarantee proper handling and execution of orders with unique characteristics.
• Monitor market conditions and relay key insights – Support sales strategy and pricing decisions through timely competitive intelligence.
• Determine competitive pricing strategies – Maximize profitability while maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Oversee customer inventory programs – Prevent excess stock and reduce obsolescence through diligent monitoring.
• Facilitate expedited shipping of ready-to-ship materials – Ensure customer deadlines are met through proactive coordination.
• Provide territory coverage as needed – Maintain service continuity when the primary representative is unavailable.
• Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent relevant experience
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Proficiency in computer-based systems and CRM tools
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage shifting priorities
• Strong customer service orientation with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Preferred: Experience in the steel industry or related manufacturing environment

Below is the expected base salary range for this position. This is a good-faith estimate, and offers will be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance.
Base Salary Range: $65K - $71K plus additional incentives
Additional compensation may include:
