Under the direction of the nurse manager, this role plans, directs, and evaluates the overall informatics related operational functions of the department. Coordinates the activities of the department, including organizing, directing, and assigning work to other staff as needed. Critical thinking, creativity, and ability to function appropriately given a certain degree of latitude is required. The position serves as a lead with overall responsibility in implementing and supporting the technology tools that bring information to our nursing staff and make providing exceptional care to our patients more streamlined, compliant, and consistent. Incumbents in this position use their collective nursing experience, informatics experience and leadership experience to assist the Informatics Nurse Manager with the needs of the department. Incumbent may be assigned in areas such as orientation, leader development, change management, employee engagement, or other areas as needed. This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities Directs and assists team members to successfully perform the role of the Informatics Nurse.Supports and promotes excellence in nursing relations.Anticipates, identifies and articulates organizational improvement strategies through the evaluation of data and effectiveness of interventions.Functions as a resource/consultant for new employees, students, clinical departments, educators, and leaders.Assists with the management of the department which involves interviewing, hiring, orienting, and coaching of inexperienced staff.Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and may coordinate with leadership to suggest updates as needed.May work with management to provide leadership during any absenteeism.Gathers best practices, tools, processes, and options through networking within the organization and with other organizations utilizing Epic Hyperspace.Leads Projects/Coordinating with other departments on Projects and go-lives.Participates on hospital committees and in meetings.Resolves problems, provides support, and expedites service to hospital departments.At the discretion of department operational and patient care needs, this position is required to work rotating schedules, which may include variable hours, weekends, nights, and holidays to meet the staffing and patient care demands of a 24/7 complex health system. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance during assigned shifts is considered an essential function of the role.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesDemonstrated availability to work variable and rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in a 24/7 patient care environment. Qualifications QualificationsRequiredTwo years of experience in an nursing informatics role.Three years of experience working with electronic health records.Four years of experience in a relevant setting.Licenses RequiredCurrent license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah.Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department. Qualifications (Preferred) PreferredBachelor's of Science in Nursing.Degree or Certification in Informatics.Previous experience leading/managing projects and employees.Previous supervisory experience.Working Conditions and Physical Demands
