Industrial Placement - Investment Quant

The Direct Investment Unit is a global team delivering direct investment management integrated within our OCIO offering. We provide clients with greater portfolio control, agility, and customized solutions, leveraging access to DIU-managed pooled funds. This approach enhances outcomes while often lowering costs through tailored, flexible investment strategies.

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Investment Quant team within the Direct Investment Unit. This role will be based in London. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The placements dates are predicted to be August 2026 – September 2027.

Investment Quant Team – our dynamics

We work with different teams in the Direct Investment Unit, including Multi Asset, Credit, Liability Driven Investment and Equity. We deliver solutions and quantitative analysis for effective ex-ante investment decision making. We embrace new advanced technology, efficiency and creativity so that we can deliver more robust and scalable solutions. The Investment Quant team is part of the wider Quants Group, consisting of various quant teams across the Direct Investment Unit.

Your role

You will work in the team of investment quants whose day job is to provide quantitative analysis to inform decision making and solutions to improve decision making efficiency. You will be a member of a team that cover various parts of the Direct Investment Unit to share knowledge and experience. A key part of this will be to work with portfolio managers, strategists and analysts.

We will count on you to:

· Work with the team to improve Excel and/or Python based solutions for investment decision making

· Contribute to internal quantitative library and development and tooling upgrades

· Work with the team to incorporate infrastructure changes and integrate them into solutions

· Work with the team to test inhouse developed systems and external vendor systems

· Participate in broader projects related to investments and analytics

· Work with the team to provide quantitative analysis to help inform investment processes and decision making. This includes ad-hoc market and portfolio analysis as well as monitoring portfolio risk from different aspects using internal and external risk systems.

· Assist in investment committee materials preparation

Working towards a degree in economics, finance, statistics, maths,Strong interest in finance, investment and programming
