**Job Title: 1st Shift Painter**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled 1st Shift Painter to join our team. The successful candidate will operate and maintain painting equipment, ensuring high-quality production in a neat, organized, and clean facility. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate a joystick-controlled sandblaster to remove rust from metal parts.
+ Use an overhead crane to load parts onto hooks that transport them into the paint machine.
+ Operate a sprayer to paint parts inside the booth.
+ Perform machine setup, product processing, and equipment maintenance using defined operating parameters.
+ Utilize Standard Specifications, SOPs, manufacturing orders, and drawings to meet quality and product standards.
+ Execute process setups and value-adding activities to meet daily production demands within the assigned team.
+ Continuously build job knowledge through execution of SOPs, demonstrating proficiency through SOP audit dialogues and skills matrix development.
+ Participate in team performance and improvement meetings, such as 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Problem Resolution Process, and Total Productive Maintenance.
+ Conduct quality checks and inspections as needed.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience in machine operation, metal painting, and sand blasting.
+ Proficient in using overhead cranes, spray guns, and other painting equipment.
+ Ability to perform lifting, climbing, standing, and equipment usage.
+ Capability to lift 50lbs+ (40lbs+ independently).
+ Ability to regularly walk, sit, and reach for extended periods.
+ Proficient in using hand tools and power tools.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ High School Diploma or GED is required within a certain time of permanent conversion.
+ Company offers a funded GED program for direct hires.

**Work Environment**
Work in a climate-controlled facility with a large, organized manufacturing floor. All sections are clearly labeled based on materials and production needs. The position operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with the possibility of extending to 4:30 PM and occasional Saturday shifts.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, Virginia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
