The Job
Oversees the functionality the assigned team of 10 – 15 Purchasing Agents/buyers of Indirect Materials located in the same or different sites. The role is to provide guidance, support and direction to team members so they can complete assigned tasks successfully. Leads the supply base around their commodity in support of Supply Management goals and objectives.
A Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the Indirect procurement process, which includes executing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and negotiating contracts to achieve cost savings and ensure a steady supply of goods and services. Key duties involve managing site level buyers, leading sourcing projects, collaborating with internal stakeholders, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains close relationships with suppliers within assigned plants, offices or distribution centers and takes proactive approach in interfacing with them to resolve issues.Assist Purchasing Agents/buyers in general department questions and guide them in the correct processMaintain and report department KPI’sGoal development and progression for direct reportsOversee day-to-day teams' operation and performanceExecute procurement strategies, policies, and best practices to align with company procurement policy and goals.Buyer Management: Manage site level buyers to ensure they are following the procurement strategies, policies and established KPIs.Supplier management: Identify, evaluate, and build relationships with new and existing suppliers. This includes supplier selection, development, and performance monitoring.Contract negotiation: Lead the negotiation of contracts less than $500K and agreements to secure the best possible terms for quality, price, and delivery.Process oversight: Manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from requisition and sourcing to purchasing and delivery, and ensure compliance with all relevant policies.Risk mitigation: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate supply chain risks, such as cost increases, tariffs, and single-supplier dependencies.Stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with internal departments to understand their needs and ensure they have the necessary resources to operate effectively.Assist is rollout and reoccurring training on department processes.Creates and updates purchase orders, supplier scorecards, supplier profile folders and other documentation as required to ensure data integrity.Identifies and manages the implementation of cost reductionsCoordinates the implementation and execution of supply agreements as required. This includes but is not limited to confidentiality agreement, long-term agreements, proprietary rights agreements, and exclusivity agreements.Supports cross-functional team initiatives around total cost improvementsLeads and reports all supplier performance. This includes the coordination of supplier scorecards as well as establishing and implementing corrective action plans. Supports the continual training of suppliers to ensure they are following the latest SBD policies and procedures.Ensures the purchasing agents perform all purchasing activities in accordance with procurement policies and proceduresEffectively lead and communicate at all levels within the company, working closely with teams across the company to drive successProvides guidance and accountability to assigned purchasing agents to drive results to department and company goals and objectives.The Person
