A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As an Incoming Quality Control Inspector at MKS Malaysia, you will partner with Incoming Quality Control team lead, receiving teams, production teams and engineers to ensures that purchased components and sub-assemblies meet specified requirements before release to stocking locations or the production area. In this role, you will report to the Quality Engineering Manager/Incoming Quality Control Team Lead.
You Will Make an Impact By:
Perform incoming visual, dimensional, mechanical, and electrical inspections per drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
Confirm supplier documentation: Certificates of Conformance (CoC), material certifications, special process certs (e.g., plating, heat treat), FAI reports, RoHS/REACH declarations, and test reports.
Accurately record results in ERP/MES/QMS (e.g., inspection plans, check sheets, and electronic records).
Maintain lot/serial traceability and ensure proper labeling and status (accepted, rejected, hold).
Initiate and process NCRs; segregate nonconforming material; assist in containment and disposition.
Support supplier returns (RMA) and communicate defects with Purchasing/Supplier Quality.
Contribute to incoming inspection plans, sampling plans (e.g., ANSI/ASQ Z1.4), and standard work updates.
Participate in lean/continuous improvement: 6S, visual management, defect taxonomy, inspection optimization, and mistake proofing.
Maintain and use calibrated tools; perform daily checks and escalate out-of-tolerance conditions.
Follow ESD, FOD, and cleanliness controls appropriate to sensitive assemblies.
Adhere to ISO 9001 requirements and any sector-specific QMS (e.g., ISO 13485 medical devices / AS9100 aerospace) per site policy.
This position does not require travel with the exception of off-site training as needed.
Skills You Bring:
High school or Diploma in Engineering, E&E or equivalent.
2–5 years of incoming or in-process inspection experience supporting electromechanical product manufacturing.
Proficient with precision metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, torque tools) and interpretation of GD&T.
Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications; familiarity with revision control and configuration management.
Experience with ERP/MES/QMS data entry and digital recordkeeping.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, build-to-plan environment.
Knowledge of ESD controls and safe handling for sensitive electronic assemblies
Preferred Skills:
Technical certificate in machining, electronics, or metrology.
Experience inspecting to IPC-A-610 (PCBs/PCBAs) and IPC/WHMA-A-620 (cable harnesses).
Exposure to ISO 13485 (medical devices). AS9100 (aerospace), or TS16949 (automotive) environments.
Familiarity with CMM operation or programming; optical/computed metrology (vision systems, laser scanners).
Basic electrical test skills (continuity, insulation resistance, resistance measurements).
Knowledge of sampling plans, FAI, and special process documentation (plating, passivation, heat treat, adhesive bonding, potting).
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 30–40 lbs. occasionally, maneuver totes and parts.
Prolonged standing/sitting at inspection stations; fine motor skills for small components; use of magnifiers/microscopes.
Work in ESD-controlled environment; use PPE as required.
Flexibility for shift coverage and occasional overtime to support production schedules.
Ability to accurately differentiate color-coded components, markings, and visual indicators in accordance with inspection standards.
