Hyperscale Data Center Fire Engineer - Senior Project Manager Job ID 236603 Posted 02-Sep-2025 Service line PJM Segment Role type Full-time Areas of Interest Construction, Data Centers, Project Management Location(s) Remote - US - Remote - US - United States of America **About the role** The Data Center Fire Engineer will assist and augment day-to-day capacity of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering team working on the client's large hyperscale data center construction program as a Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression SME within the Execution Engineering team. This includes design & localization of new data centers and campuses, supporting operations staff with engineering solutions, streamlining construction issue resolution, and General Engineering Administration and Management. **What you’ll do** + Review and assist technical development of fire alarm and suppression systems for hyperscale data centers including campus planning, general layout/arrangements, VESDA/ASSD calculations and code review, hydraulic analyses, pipe sizing, etc. + Responsible for external design consultants and provide direction or escalation + Peer review design consultants’ results including drawing sets, specifications, calculations, models, etc. and provide comments and resolutions. + Participate in all page turns as responsible/accountable for FA/FP sets. + Represent owner (through external consultants) as SME + Assist partner teams in the event fire code related blockers appear on permits and filing. + Coordinate Value Engineering efforts + Analyze for redundancies, failure modes, and Single Points Of Failure while working with Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) modelers to verify conformance. + Perform rapid conceptual sketches using CAD or BIM for visualization and spatial/dimensional validations for internal purposes only. + Help defines various BMS sequence of operations related to fire events. + Assist and occasionally lead projects and solutioning, fleet-wide improvements and other needs arising from existing, operational data center campuses + Evaluate post-mortem reports, 8D/root cause analyses and presentations and make comments and recommendations. + Assist in generating solution/upgrade/improvement options that have a fleet-wide impact to improve reliability and availability of critical operational infrastructure. + Assist data analytics of operational trends to evaluate equipment health, remaining useful life and predictive failure models. + Provide code interpretations, advice, and input as needs arise + Work with partners in construction, design and change management to compile, prioritize/triage and process construction originated engineering issues for standard design/product improvements. + Support in overall standard design improvement loops/processes between products, design, construction and operations. + Visit construction sites or operational sites if needed. + Coordinate, clarify, and track technical issues with client partner teams and third-party contractors. + Ensure design QA/QC is being performed, report and clarify/ resolve issues and gaps to relevant downstream partners. + Represent client’s ExE team in all product development PLCs (Product Life Cycles) as a SME. **What you’ll need** + Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in an engineering subject area is required. + Minimum of 5 years of solid experience in the design of fire protection systems for commercial buildings. Experience with data center construction would be helpful + Knowledge of building, mechanical and fire protection codes and standards. + Knowledge of Fire Alarm / Suppression systems such as Early Warning/Detection Systems, Pre-action, and Wet Pipe Systems is required + Familiarity with Google Workspace and its related products (Sheets, Docs, Slides). + Familiarity with critical infrastructure is preferred + Experience and knowledge of working with cross-disciplinary teams, including structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, electrical, and architectural. + Excellent project management, interpersonal, and organizational skills. **Disclaimer** Please be advised that effective January 1, 2025, CBRE Project Management and Turner & Townsend were consolidated into a single global business entity. The minimum salary for this position is $160,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $195,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
