Job Title: HVAC Technician
Job Description
Perform HVAC maintenance and repair services at Fort Sill, ensuring optimal operation of hydronic and refrigeration systems. Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, year-round with minimal overtime.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repair on hydronic and refrigeration systems, including air handling units, DX coil/condensing units, fan coil units, and variable air volume (VAV) units.Maintain, repair, or replace domestic and heating hot water boilers up to 1,000,000 BTU.Repair or replace commercial and residential HVAC systems under 25 tons.Follow mechanical codes for installing and replacing HVAC systems.Mount compressor and condenser units on platforms or floors using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications.Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment.Install evaporator units in chassis or air-duct systems using hand tools.Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape using cutting/bending equipment/tools.Cut and thread pipe using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.Join tubing or pipes to refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solder joints using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant.Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power source.Inject refrigerant into compressor to test systems and add freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure.Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure proper operation.Test joints and connections for gas leaks using gauges or soap and water solution.Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units using electrician’s hand tools and test equipment.Essential Skills
EPA Universal Certification.2-4.5+ years of HVAC experience or combination of experience and formal vocational training.Experience troubleshooting HVAC systems.Possess valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction and supervision.Additional Skills & Qualifications
