**Job Title: HVAC Technician**
Job Description
Join our Facilities Management Services department as an HVAC Mechanic I or II, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining, repairing, and operating HVAC equipment. You will work with a variety of systems, including electronic control systems, self-contained air conditioning units, and refrigeration equipment, ensuring the comfort and safety of our facilities.
Responsibilities
+ Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC equipment such as fan coil units, air handling units, and VAV boxes.
+ Repair and replace components like expansion valves, compressors, motors, and coils.
+ Check HVAC distribution systems for proper velocity, volume, temperature, and pressure.
+ Provide technical assistance in designing HVAC systems and modifying existing systems.
+ Complete preventive maintenance on all HVAC systems and some refrigeration systems.
+ Evaluate HVAC systems for performance and safety standards.
+ Adjust and repair pneumatic, electric, and electronic control components.
+ Supervise and control equipment via building automation systems.
+ Requisition job parts and supplies.
+ Read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams.

+ Strong communication skills and ability to perform tasks with minimal direction.
+ Ability to work independently and make decisions regarding additional help.
+ Professional management of interactions with challenging customers.
+ Attention to detail in keeping accurate and detailed reports and records.
+ Ability to move and work in confined spaces and at heights.
+ Ability to lift 40 pounds and occasionally work outside in inclement conditions.
+ Pass a physical exam for respirator clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ HVAC I: High School diploma or GED, graduation from a trade school or apprenticeship as an HVAC mechanic, minimum of three years' experience as a journeyman level HVAC mechanic, EPA CFC Universal certification.
+ HVAC II: Additional certifications, minimum of four years' experience as a journeyman level HVAC mechanic, experience in building automation system operations, City of Pittsburgh Stationary Engineers License.

Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Pittsburgh, PA, with a requirement to join Local #95 International Union of Operating Engineers. Shifts are available across first, second, and third rotations, with potential for 10-hour shifts. Facilities Management fosters a collaborative environment where flexibility and passion are essential.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $78020.80 - $78020.80/yr.
Healthcare Benefits
• Health insurance is provided by CMU through Aetna for a specific L95 policy. Cost right now is about $525 per month, regardless of how many dependents.
• Dental / Vision is directly through the union
Retirement
• 8% CMU contribution is paid to the L95 Pension Fund for each employee. This is non-matching and is 8% above and beyond the hourly rate.
Tuition Benefits
• Staff members receive immediate tuition benefits.
• Dependent tuition benefits kick in after a 3 year vesting period. For children attending another institution the benefit is up to $10,614 per year for up to 2 kids.
