**Job Title: HVAC Technician**
**Job Description**
The HVAC Technician/Installer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating and air conditioning systems. The role involves handling installations of split systems and heat pumps, as well as gas pipes, sheet metal, PVC, and electrical components. You will also be involved in duct installation, refrigerant handling, system tuning, and providing technical training.
**Responsibilities**
+ Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including split systems and heat pumps.
+ Handle gas pipes, sheet metal, PVC, and electrical components.
+ Perform duct installation and routing.
+ Properly handle refrigerants and conduct system tuning and charging.
+ Provide technical direction and on-the-job training.
+ Coordinate construction efforts with other trades.
+ Conduct performance tests using specialized tools.
+ Maintain OSHA standards and ensure compliance with appliance standards.
+ Travel to homes and businesses as scheduled.
+ Identify maintenance risks and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
+ Clean, adjust, repair systems, and perform warranty services.
+ Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
+ Determine customer needs and discuss solution methods.
+ Repair damaged HVAC systems.
+ Keep records of customer appointments, payment transactions, and invoices.
+ Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and HVAC resources.
**Essential Skills**
+ 4+ years of experience as an HVAC technician.
+ Understanding of advanced air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating principles.
+ Proficiency with HVAC specialty tools, including sheet metal break, gauges, manometer, hand tools, pipe fitting, and acetylene torch.
+ Proficiency in balancing new systems with HVAC protocols.
+ Ability to read schematics and work plans.
+ EPA 608 Certification.
+ Valid driver’s license and vehicle for site transportation.
+ Working knowledge of boiler systems.
+ OSHA 10 Hour certification (course can be provided).
+ High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
+ Willingness to continue education in the HVAC field.

**Work Environment**
You will be working in active construction sites with multiple other trades, requiring a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe workspace. The job frequently involves working on ladders and rooftops. Work environments are typically unconditioned, so expect to work in various seasonal conditions. Proper safety measures are required at all times to manage common dust and confined spaces.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oak Park, Illinois.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
