What You’ll Do
Plan, coordinate, direct, and oversee daily operations of husbandry care staff to meet department and customer requirements.
Define and monitor operating plans for area, including workflow, equipment, facilities, and personnel scheduling.
Guide performance of husbandry operations (e.g., contingency planning for high-volume periods, periodic maintenance and decontamination, usage of suitable husbandry techniques).
Drive timely submission of work orders and other relevant documentation to ensure timely availability of supplies, resources, and equipment.
Track team compliance with required guidelines and address deviations.
Track and report metrics to relevant leadership teams.
Assist in planning and monitoring of overall team budgets.
Train and mentor teams around animal husbandry systems, techniques, and processes.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
High School Diploma/GED required.
Associate's Degree preferred.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum Requirement: 8+ years of experience in a professional husbandry care facility (e.g., zoo, veterinary clinic, laboratory facility with a high school diploma/GED.
Experience Exception: 6+ years with an Associate's degree.
Experience Exception: 4+ years with a Bachelor's degree.
Significant technical experience within own area (e.g., murine model handling and restraint; model health monitoring; operation and sanitization/sterilization of equipment; sample collection).
Experience managing/guiding ARC software systems and databases for maintenance/review/analysis of records/data/reports.
Experience working with/implementing regulations and policies regarding murine model research (e.g., ILAR Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory
Models, USDA Welfare Act and Regulations).
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
