Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources Manager to join our dynamic team. This role involves supporting HR and administrative functions for our Hartford Division while reporting to the Director of Human Resources. The manager will supervise the HR Generalist and may assist with other administrative staff. This position requires full-cycle recruitment for both exempt and nonexempt roles and involves collaboration with union partners and management on labor relations.
Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle recruitment processes, including job requisition approval and applicant tracking.Collaborate with union partners and management to address labor relations and participate in grievance and arbitration processes.Oversee onboarding processes, background checks, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.Support changes within the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) including hires, terminations, and promotions.Assist in the development and administration of benefits, training programs, and employee development initiatives.Handle employee relations issues, conduct investigations, and ensure EEO/AA compliance.Manage unemployment compensation, FMLA, and ADA accommodations.Conduct personnel analysis and reporting, oversee performance appraisals, and collaborate with Finance, HR, and Pension teams.Provide backup support to the Director of HR and other divisions as needed.Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Administration, Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.5+ years of relevant HR/administrative experience.3+ years of leadership experience in human resource management.Advanced communication skills, both written and oral, with strong interpersonal abilities.Experience in union environments, including interviewing, hiring, training, and employee development.Proficiency in HRIS and timekeeping systems.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with union contracts and collective bargaining.Ability to conduct and deliver training both online and in-person.Strong organizational and scheduling skills.Participation in professional development activities.Advanced degree in Human Resource Management.Certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.Work Environment
This position operates in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment that functions 24/7/365. The role is based in Hartford but requires travel to other divisions as necessary. Flexibility with schedule, including availability for nights and weekends, is essential for success in this role.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartford, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.87 - $44.23/hr.
