We are seeking a skilled Human Resources Manager to oversee and advise on HR functions, including interviewing and hiring staff, auditing payroll, and administering group insurance benefits. This temporary role, expected to last at least six months, offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to employee relations and manager coaching.
ResponsibilitiesAdvise managers on organizational policy matters and recommend necessary changes.Create and maintain employment records related to hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, promotions, or performance reviews.Perform on-boarding and termination processes for employees.Audit weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Ensure all required weekly and monthly reports are accurate and submitted on time.Advise and assist supervisors and managers in administering discipline and handling grievances.Perform benefit administration including claims resolution, participant enrollment, and communication of benefit information.Negotiate and approve property and casualty insurance as well as workers' compensation insurance.Support managers and employees with HR needs.Maintain and protect employee files and documents, ensuring confidentiality.Safeguard information obtained or developed in workplace investigations.Administer and advise on performance and disciplinary actions.Essential Skills5+ years of HR experience, with at least the last 2 in a managerial role.Proficiency in human resources management, employee relations, and HR administration.Experience with union or certified payroll.2+ years of payroll experience, including auditing and full-cycle processing.Strong conflict resolution skills and ability to coach managers on handling difficult situations.Proficiency with HRIS systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsPHR/SPHR or SHRM certification preferred.Experience in a larger, more complex company.Familiarity with certified payroll processes.Work EnvironmentThis position is 100% onsite, with working hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break. The work environment is a blue-collar, male-dominated field, with a focus on construction and utility projects. Candidates should be comfortable with 'colorful' language and working in a dynamic, hands-on environment. The team consists of 126 employees, primarily based in California, and this role is part of an HR team of one, with support from the CEO, OOO, and Operations Manager.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $58.00/hr.
