ResponsibilitiesWork with Program Managers to ensure human resources functions comply with funder requirements.Participate in job fairs and other recruiting events.Post and update job openings on appropriate job boards and internal postings.Screen incoming resumes and applications promptly, forwarding qualified applicants to Program Managers.Develop innovative recruiting methods for job openings posted for more than 30 days.Prescreen applicants via telephone and schedule interviews for Program Managers.Maintain application and interview files.Coach Program Managers on interviewing skills and participate in interviews as needed.Prepare job offer letters, conduct pre-hire screenings, and coordinate all necessary checks using the New Hire Checklist.Conduct new hire employee orientations bi-weekly or as needed.Coordinate creation of employee badges and security access.Ensure orientation documents comply with state, federal laws, and agency requirements.Create and maintain personnel, payroll, and medical files for new hires.Address employee/labor relations timely, including conducting investigations and executing disciplinary actions if needed.Enforce and adhere to agency policies and procedures consistently.Maintain a clear understanding of the Employee Handbook and union contracts where applicable.
Essential Skills2+ years of experience as an HR Coordinator/Generalist running a full HR desk.Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.Experience with Paycom.Knowledge of the full HR cycle, including recruitment, benefits, employee relations, and payroll.Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft applications.
Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in healthcare or drug rehab settings is preferred due to the importance of credentialing.3+ years as an HR Generalist in a nonprofit or healthcare institution.Ability to identify personnel/management problems and recommend solutions.Skill in counseling employees and mapping processes for necessary changes.Ability to establish effective working relationships in a diverse environment.
Work Environment
The position is based in an office setting in Hartford, Connecticut, with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, totaling 35 hours per week. The role requires onsite presence every day. Join a great community with a strong cause, offering a favorable work/life balance.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.96 - $35.71/hr.
