Our HR philosophy is deeply rooted in finding solutions and providing support for our managers in their respective missions. *What is this career opportunity?* As an HR Business Partner, you will be tasked with supporting specific business areas within the Department and its affiliated agencies. This strategic and hands-on role encompasses full-cycle HR support and services within assigned business areas. It is crucial in achieving the Department's people initiatives, providing internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. You will be responsible for co-developing and executing HR initiatives in alignment with workforce strategies, providing operational HR expertise and solutions, and consulting on compensation, talent acquisition, organizational development, labor relations, and relevant labor laws. Additionally, you will offer guidance to department leaders regarding the impact of their decisions on the workforce and managerial effectiveness and utilize your knowledge of organizational design and culture to implement changes that enhance the efficiency of the agency. *What are we looking for?* /Education and Experience:/ * Bachelor’s degree with substantive college coursework emphasizing human resources topics, business management, public administration, or related subjects; AND * Four years’ experience supporting the HR needs of an organization; OR * Specific HR trainings and/or certifications (SHRM or HRCI) may be substituted for the above requirements. *Competencies:* /Knowledge of, or Ability to Learn:/ * Classification requirements for state positions; * State and federal policies that apply to human resources; * Recruiting requirements specific to the public sector; * Requirements to operate within a unionized environment; * Compensation approaches that align with business needs and overarching direction; and * The full spectrum of HR topics as a practicing generalist. /Ability to:/ * Influence through strong working relationships, expertise and data; * Monitor the ‘pulse’ of the workforce and pro-actively advise management on changing trends in moral, engagement, rising issues of concern, etc.; * Fully engage all parties involved in challenging personnel matters and apply expertise to bring successful resolution to the matter at hand; * Successfully navigate complex managerial relationships; * Provide exceptional service to employees and managers of assigned entities; * Steer standard transactional requests for service into transformational opportunities that improve aspects of the supported business; * Interpret advise on established policies and precedents; * Be an excellent communicator and able to facilitate difficult meetings; * Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills, analyze data, understand trends, and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis. *Does this sound like you? * Please tell us how and why by submitting your resume and cover letter.
