Safety first! You will provide primary care services to the site and co-ordinate and manage the site health program, including safety inspections, ergonomics training and ergonomics assessments, to drive a reduction in work and non work related injuries. You will as well undertake management of  testing programs required by local legislation

How you will contribute

You will: 

Provide primary care services to the site  and co-ordinate and effectively manage the site health program, including managing work related and non-work related injuries and illnessesCoordinate preventative health and wellness programs to drive a reduction in work related injuriesProvide Initial emergency response, resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill or injured (trauma) patientsSupport the development of health related policies and Standard Operating Procedures  for the site  including the delivery of training where necessaryManagement , maintenance and administration of medical equipment and  consumables in line with legal and medical standards including  audit of equipment and  storing, dispensing, administering and safe  disposal of medicinesAssess plant risk for health issues or any occupational related illness, acting upon the assessment and controlling them through proper preventive measures

Relevant qualifications in the area of Occupational Health or claims management. Qualified Doctor or Nursing practitionerDiploma or Degree qualifications in OHS/Claims & Injury Management, Workplace Ergonomics, Rehabilitation or related disciplineRelevant experience in OHS (Occupational Safety and Health)Strong experience in an Injury Management & Rehabilitation role, ideally within a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of Workers Compensation and Injury Management legislative requirements

More about this role

The HSE Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the standard for health,

safety and Environment, protection of all workers and the equipment on site are maintained at a level consistent with the Company’s HSE Policy.

What you need to know about this position:

- The HSE coordinator represents the HSE manager in the field.

- To advise line managers and team leads on HSE matters as necessitated by the job hazards in the workplace.

- Makes thorough analysis of statistical data and inspections; delineates problem areas; and makes recommendation for solutions.  Coordinates the efforts of the job site’s Health, and Safety

- Ensure that toolbox talks are given to workers before the day’s job begins and organize weekly safety meetings with the unit heads.

- To ensure that all workers are equipped and utilize required Personal Protective Equipment appropriates to the work being carried out.

- Conduct Hazard Management Audit on site and advise management on hazardous conditions noted.

 - Attend all the weekly safety meetings and implement all related action points as they affect company’s safe operations.

- Ensure that the right tools are being used for the job and all equipment in service is in good working condition.

- To submit safety reports and liaise with the SE Manager in respect of workplace safety concerns.

-  To review and maintain all reports on accidents, incidents and near misses and ensuring that a full investigation is carried out and recommendation made to the management.

- Establishes contact with subcontractors with the objective of maintaining good relations and coordination of accident prevention activities.

- Track incident investigation action items to closure, analyze safety performance trends, lead investigations, assist in coordination and delivery of HSE training, and provide feedback for improvement to HSE Manager.

- Provide quality advice to factories on safety issues/concerns including regulatory compliance and risk assessment/management.

- Play a proactive role in identifying, minimizing and eliminating safety hazards associated with site operations and facilities.

- Assure integrity of operations on through Operational Risk Management by qualitatively and quantitatively assessing the variety of risks faced by operations. This system will help:

* Significantly reduce injury/incident frequency rate

* Safety and Environment Audit.

* SEDEX (SMETA) Audit.

* Coordinate and disseminate Ethical Trade Initiatives codes to all employees.

- Prevent all incidents and accidents involving employees, equipment, facilities and contractor(s) working on our project or site.

- Develop and maintain site-specific emergency response/evacuation plans for Candy team.

- Establish and maintain safety and environmental statistics and information.

Education / Certifications:

University degree in science In-depth knowledge/understanding of HSE practices and management

Job specific requirements:

Good knowledge of Risk Management System2 years minimum experience
