HSE Advisor - Yokohama (*Japanese language required) Job ID 229414 Posted 15-Jul-2025 Role type Full-time Areas of Interest Health and Safety/Environment Location(s) Yokohama - Kanagawa - Japan **JOB SUMMARY** Will be responsible for managing Health, Safety, and Environmental issues on behalf of the client, ensuring statutory compliance and alignment with global best practices. The role will serve as the primary point of contact for HSE matters, driving proactive risk management, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement across the client’s portfolio. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:** · Act as the primary interface and single point of contact for the client’s key Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability representatives. · Manages HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and HSE needs of a client account. Further, evaluating new and existing programs to assess suitability and the need for changes. + Adapt and deploy the corporate HSE playbook processes across the client account, ensuring consistent implementation. + Develop and maintain comprehensive HSE plans, playbooks, and procedures for the account/region, ensuring information is current, complete, and effectively implemented. + Devise and implement a structured risk assessment program for all managed locations and third-party suppliers, covering occupational, environmental, and psychosocial risks. + Establish and oversee a robust HSE audit and assurance program, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, reducing risk, and improving performance against CBRE and client HSE management systems. + Support the procurement process by embedding HSE criteria in contractor selection, setting measurable KPIs, and evaluating contractor documentation + Monitor contractor HSE performance and KPIs through audits, inspections, and spot checks of working practices. + Monitors HSE regulatory compliance within the account, market area, or assigned area of responsibility. + Communicates all findings, concerns, and deficiencies to the responsible managers to effect timely and necessary corrections. + Assist in the development and implementation of strategic solutions that will support management's efforts to improve and maintain compliance as required. + Promotes safety consciousness among employees by providing accurate and informative data, conducting safety meetings, giving timely feedback, on safety suggestions and visibly supporting the safety programs. + Support client H&S initiatives. + Develop and deploy a communications plan to strengthen safety culture and ensure transparent reporting. + Leverage digital HSE platforms and analytics tools for compliance tracking, incident reporting, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement. + Maintain awareness of global, regional, and local HSE regulatory changes and emerging best practices to ensure proactive compliance. · Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical expertise to operations teams and contractors across the account. · Act as the CBRE representative in dealings with statutory authorities, clients, and external stakeholders. · Other duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. **EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE** + Bachelors Degree or Master’s Degree (MSc/PG Diploma) in Environmental science/ Engineering, Industrial safety, Occupational Health Safety / Sustainability/ESG or a related field. + Professional Certifications + NEBOSH International Diploma + Certified Safety Professional + Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) + Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) + Diploma in Environment Management / IEMA Certification **COMMUNICATION SKILLS** + Excellent communicator (written and verbal) with the ability to influence and impact stakeholders at all levels. + Fluency in English and the client’s primary operating language is essential. + Strong presentation, training, and coaching skills to engage diverse teams. + Ability to build strong relationships and influence a global client organization. **OTHER SKILLS** + Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. + Client-focused with a commercial awareness of HSE’s impact on business performance. + Advanced skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and digital HSE platforms). + Analytical and planning capability with attention to detail. + Crisis management and decision making skills under pressure. + Ability to multi-task, remain agile, and adapt in dynamic environments. + Team player with a collaborative mindset and ability to mentor others. **DISCLAIMER** This job description is intended to describe the general nature and scope of work expected of the role.
