We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead and deliver the full employee lifecycle within a values‑driven organisation in the publishing sector. This is a standalone role offering both strategic influence and hands‑on delivery, supporting the business through growth, change and continued cultural development.
The Role Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will work closely with the Executive Management Team and stakeholders across the business to deliver best‑practice HR solutions. You will shape and implement HR strategy while ensuring the HR function remains compliant, effective and people‑centred.
Working pattern:
Full‑time or part‑time (3 days per week or spread across 4/5 days)9am–5pmHybrid working: London‑based, initially onsite 3 days per week, with the option to work remotely one day per week following successful completion of probationKey ResponsibilitiesLead all aspects of the end‑to‑end employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development and offboardingPartner with the Executive Management Team to support future growth and organisational changeIdentify HR trends and proactively address people, policy and resourcing needsChampion diversity, equality and inclusion, ensuring values are embedded into practices and cultureEnsure HR policies, procedures and systems are compliant with UK employment legislation, including data protection, Equality Act and health & safetyManage employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, absence and redundancyLead recruitment activity, including job design, advertising and selectionChampion performance management, appraisals and 360 feedback processesOversee learning and development, training plans and compliance recordsAct as HR lead for BCorp recertification, with a focus on Fair Work and Justice, Equity, Diversity and InclusionSupport payroll change information and staff benefits in conjunction with finance colleaguesDrive engagement and wellbeing initiatives, including involvement in the staff forumAbout You You will be a confident and credible HR professional with a pragmatic, people‑focused approach and the ability to operate both strategically and operationally.
Essential requirements:
CIPD Level 5 (Associate) qualificationMinimum 5 years’ experience in a generalist HR roleStrong working knowledge of UK employment lawExcellent written and verbal English, with the ability to draft policies and proceduresStrong organisational, problem‑solving and time‑management skillsExcellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skillsA positive, approachable manner with the confidence to work in a standalone HR roleAdaptable, proactive and comfortable working in a changing environmentStrong IT and administrative skillsWhy Join Us?
