This hourly position is ideal for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in academic research, with a primary focus on data collection, linkage, and analysis; manuscript and abstract preparation; artificial intelligence. The role may also include performing various research support functions to advance the department’s research objectives. **Responsibilities** **Essential Functions:** + **Data Collection and Management:** Assist in collecting, organizing, and maintaining research data through surveys, experiments, interviews, or secondary data sources, ensuring accuracy and compliance with research protocols. + **Data Analysis:** Perform basic quantitative and qualitative data analysis using statistical software (e.g., SPSS , R, Excel) under the guidance of senior researchers. + **Manuscript and Abstract Writing:** Contribute to drafting, editing, and formatting research manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for conferences, journals, or internal reviews. + **Literature Reviews:** Conduct literature searches and summarize relevant academic articles to support research projects and grant proposals. + **Editing and Proofreading:** Review and edit research documents, including reports, proposals, and presentations, to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to style guidelines (e.g., APA , MLA ). **Minimum Qualifications** **EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :** 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). **Research Assistant, I:** Requires little to no related experience. **Preferences** In pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in a science related field or equivalency of one year of experience in research and analytical techniques; demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required. * Departments may require IRB CITI Course or IATA DGR training within a specified timeframe. * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. * Basic proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS , R) or willingness to learn. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting and editing research documents. * Familiarity with academic writing styles (e.g., APA , MLA ) is a plus.
