What you will have an opportunity to do:

We are looking for a highly motivated Full-Time Banquet Captain to join our team! 

This individual is responsible for overseeing banquet events, including service staff performance and event set-up, to ensure exceptional guest service and smooth operations. You will act as the liaison between many different parties, including the Banquets Manager, Events Sales Manager, Event Host and Guests, Kitchen and Banquet Staff, and more. As the personal representative of the property, your job is to enhance guest satisfaction and maximize revenues.

Specifically, as the banquet captain your primary responsibilities are the following:

Oversee all aspects of banquet service, including setup, service and breakdown, in accordance with the event BEO, while ensuring high standards of service and presentation.Coordinate with the kitchen and catering staff to ensure timely food preparation and delivery according to event specifications; Ensures final quality check on food and beverage items immediately prior to serving guestsProvide a warm and welcoming greeting to guests as they arrive; provides general property information and offers heartfelt and sincere thank you farewell for all guests as they depart.Manage banquet staff in a professional manner, including assigning tasks, training, and providing guidance to ensure a high level of performance.Conduct pre-event meetings with staff to review event BEO details, timelines, and guest expectations.Review menu with staff, including how items are prepared, cooking methods and all ingredients, taking into special consideration for any special request, allergies, dietary request or issues.Answer guest questions regarding menu items and available beverage options, including menu item ingredients, how the food was prepared, and the cooking methods.Monitor and address guest satisfaction during events, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally, informing kitchen and/or management.Assist with inventory management, ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are available for events.Perform other duties as assigned by the Food and Beverage Director, Banquets Manager or Director of Catering.

Supportive Functions: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. Due to the seasonal nature and business hours of a hotel, candidates must realize it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift to meet business demands. All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements.

What are we looking for?

Previous experience in the position of banquet captain, or similar event leadership role, is required, preferably with a hotel.Availability to work any day of the week, with no scheduling restrictions, including weekends and holidays. The schedule will change weekly based on events.Ability to effectively understand and communicate in the English language with guest and restaurant staff.Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to convey information and ideas clearly to staff and guests alike.Excellent organizational and time management abilities.Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities in a fast-paced environment and respond with a sense of urgency when needed to resolve issues effectively.Able to make quick and effective decisions to ensure guest satisfaction and smooth operations.Moving up to 50 lbs. frequently, throughout shift, to perform essential job functions.Extend arms; frequent reaching, twisting, pulling, bending, and stoopingFrequently standing, walking, and ascend/descend stairs throughout work shift.Moves about the hotel and banquet areas including but not limited to banquet areas, dining rooms, and other event spaces within the hotel, for duration of shift.May be exposed to varying noise levels and temperature conditions depending on the events being held.Ability to observe and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation.

Professional Licenses/Certifications:

Food Handler Certification and Texas TABC Certification are required.
