Job Summary
As Home Lending Counsel - Assistant Vice President within our Legal organization, you will spend your day collaborating with other legal professionals and supporting various partners within the Home Lending business. In this role, you will be able to act autonomously as a subject matter expert in addressing and resolving various issues relating to the origination, servicing and disposition of mortgage loans. You will have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence their peers. Job responsibilities
Provide legal advice and support to the originations, servicing and capital markets business teams within the Home Lending operationsActively contribute to the success of the Home Lending legal team through team collaboration Provide support to the Home Lending legal team with special projects, escalated matters, transactions and research of federal and state laws and investor requirementsPerform loan-level title and legal reviews to ensure first-lien position, advise on complex vesting and real property issues (e.g., trusts, LLCs, guardianships, conservatorships, POAs), cure title defects, and address state law matters.Lead team projects and serve as a subject matter expert for various assigned legal mattersRequired qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Minimum 2 years of legal experience with a mortgage company, bank or law firmLaw Degree and membership in jurisdictional organization. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.Demonstrated ability to thrive in team environments and work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholdersSolve problems with collaboration, creativity, and practicality Display strong analytical, organization, time-management and communication skills Possess legal research skillsAbility to adapt to change effectively and exercise sound judgment Experience as an attorney with a mortgage company or bank Knowledge of the mortgage originations, servicing and capital markets industry and structurePreferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
