About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join a high‑quality pathology laboratory supporting diagnostic and disease‑focused work, including oncology. In this role, you’ll prepare tissue samples and slides that directly support accurate diagnoses and patient care.

What You’ll Do
+ Prepare tissue samples and slides for pathologist review
+ Perform paraffin embedding of routine anatomical pathology specimens (non‑dermatology)
+ Cut high‑quality sections, including levels, recuts, re‑embeds, and routine stains
+ Perform and evaluate routine H&E staining, including assessment of stain quality
+ Support special stains such as Alcian Blue and PAS, using appropriate controls
+ Maintain and troubleshoot automated stainers and coverslippers
+ Retrieve, organize, and track tissue blocks and slides
+ Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all lab protocols and quality standards
+ Accurately document work in accordance with laboratory procedures and regulations
What We’re Looking For
+ 2–4 years of hands‑on histology experience
+ ASCP HT certification preferred
+ Associate’s degree in biology or a related scientific field preferred
+ Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
+ Comfortable working independently on an overnight schedule
+ Clear communication skills and basic computer proficiency

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Bakersfield, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $43.00/hr.
