In this role, you will be responsible for performing both mechanical and welding repairs on railcars, with an emphasis on safety and quality. This is a physically demanding position that involves working in a challenging, industrial environment. Responsibilities + Perform 60% mechanical work and 40% welding work to repair railcars. + Work safely around heavy equipment, railcars, and railroad tracks. + Coordinate and complete all railcar repairs and maintenance. + Interpret job work orders and follow blueprints/schematics for repairs. + Utilize mechanical skills and tools to weld, cut, and gouge. + Notify of any materials/equipment needed for task completion. + Adhere to all safety rules, maintain a clean work area, and comply with Environmental, Health and Safety policies. + Ensure compliance with FRA, AAR, and customer quality standards. + Perform additional tasks as assigned to complete the job. + Support essential functions of the job through ancillary duties. Essential Skills + Strong mechanical aptitude and welding ability. + Proficiency in using hand tools, air tools, and other equipment. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. + Experience in torch cutting and flux core welding. + Capability to stand for long periods and lift repetitively. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with mechanical or railcar work. + Ability to take and pass a flux core weld test. + Knowledge of mechanical assembly and fabrication processes. + Experience with grinding and air tools.
