Heavy Equipment Operator Landfill
Safely operate and/or have the ability to operate various equipment including excavator, front loader, bulldozer, or other heavy equipment and/or steer equipment to bale, load and move waste material.

Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and productive operation of heavy equipment used in landfill operations at the Grady Landfill in Rockmart, GA. This role supports daily landfill activities while maintaining compliance with company safety standards and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently to support landfill operations

Perform waste placement, spreading, grading, and compaction

Maintain landfill working areas, slopes, and access roads

Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections

Identify and report maintenance or safety issues

Follow all GFL safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations

Communicate effectively with site leadership and team members

Work outdoors in all weather conditions

Work overtime as operational needs require

Cat D8 Dozer

Cat D6T, D6N, D5 Dozers

Cat 836K & 836 Compactors

Cat 350, 349, 330 Excavators

Cat 740 GC Off-Road Truck

Qualifications

Previous experience operating heavy equipment (landfill experience preferred)

Strong focus on safety and environmental compliance

Ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Valid driver’s license required
