Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Title: Heavy Equipment OperatorJob Description

We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator experienced in civil construction, underground utility installation, and site work for a ground-up residential development project. The operator will safely and efficiently run heavy machinery to support excavation, trenching, grading, and backfilling for a 42-unit building and 14 townhomes, working alongside pipe crews and site development teams.

ResponsibilitiesSafely operate excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, backhoes, rollers, and related equipment.Execute underground pipe installation for water, sewer, and storm utilities.Perform mass grading, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation for ground-up construction.Read site plans, spot grades, and utilize lasers/grade control effectively.Maintain strong awareness of jobsite safety and equipment operation standards.Collaborate closely with pipe crews, foremen, and laborers to maintain production.Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform minor maintenance.Essential SkillsProficiency in operating heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, and loaders.Experience in underground pipe installation and trenching.Ability to read and interpret site plans and work with grade control technologies.Strong understanding of jobsite safety and soil conditions.3–5+ years operating heavy equipment in civil/site development.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in tight residential site conditions is a plus.Ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections.OSHA 10 certification preferred.Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work at an active outdoor residential construction site, coordinating daily with pipe crews, site crews, and general contractor staff. Operate in a fast-paced environment with constant equipment movement, ensuring safe operation in areas with limited space and other trades present. Be prepared for exposure to varying weather conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waldwick, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
