We are expanding and seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator, particularly proficient in operating backhoe and mini excavator, for sewer and water service repairs and replacements.
ResponsibilitiesOperate backhoe, mini-excavator, skid steers, and other excavation machinery equipped with scoops, shovels, or buckets to excavate and load loose materials on residential and commercial job sites.Load, unload, and secure equipment on transport trailers according to guidelines.Follow OSHA and Roto-Rooter safety procedures.Work collaboratively with a crew to efficiently complete excavation work on various projects.Interact with customers as needed, providing excellent customer service and addressing their requirements professionally.Maintain excavation equipment and gather all necessary equipment from the branch and/or rental companies to ensure smooth operations during excavation tasks.Perform excavation work in confined spaces and open trenches, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.Locate and arrive at job sites promptly, ensuring safe driving and operation of service vehicles between locations.Essential SkillsConstruction experience in both residential and commercial projects.Possession of a current CDL Class A license.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.Complete jobs within specified timelines.Additional Skills & QualificationsTrenchless water, sewer, and gas experience is a plus.Backflow certification (client will assist in obtaining this).OSHA 10 certification (client will assist in obtaining this).Why Work Here?We offer an 8-week employer-paid training program, split between office and field work. Employees receive weekly pay, with separate checks for drive/miles and commission. The company provides major equipment and tools, while employees are required to have basic hand tools. Office meetings are compensated at an hourly wage and employees can earn commissions on all billings.
Work EnvironmentExcavation work takes place in both commercial and residential buildings, with shifts typically lasting 8 hours. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the average production for the week. Employees clock in as soon as they leave their home each morning, earning 70 cents per mile.
