**Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator**
**Job Description**
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for efficiently operating heavy machinery such as loaders and excavators in a production, quarry environment. Your primary duties will include loading trucks to the correct weight per contract, moving materials around the yard, and ensuring safety protocols are consistently followed.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate heavy equipment including CAT E960, CAT 980, CAT 490, CAT 350, skid steers, loaders, sweepers, Bobcats, and water trucks.
+ Load approximately 200 trucks per shift, ensuring adherence to weight specifications.
+ Perform regular safety inspections of equipment and maintain machinery.
+ Assist with general yard work and maintenance tasks.
+ Adapt quickly to changing tasks and yard locations.
+ Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.
**Essential Skills**
+ 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, dozers, cranes, loaders, and trucks.
+ Experience in performing basic maintenance and safety inspections on machinery.
+ Strong knowledge of individual equipment design and safety requirements.
+ Ability to communicate equipment issues effectively and direct others on job assignments.
+ High level of safety consciousness and understanding of equipment safety necessities.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience in civil construction and general labor.
+ Ability to operate equipment in a fast-paced environment.

**Work Environment**
This role involves working in a fast-paced, high-volume yard operation with interchangeable work between multiple yards. Expect outdoor work in all weather conditions, with personal protective equipment provided, including a vest, glasses, and hard hat. Steel-toed boots are required. The environment is industrial, with heavy machinery, loud noises, dirt, and dust, predominantly outside in the yard with the main office in a few bungalows. Located in East Oakland, the company has a team of 20-25 employees.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, California.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.
