Job Description

Join a dynamic excavating company where you will operate heavy equipment such as large excavators, bulldozers, and loaders. You will be responsible for excavating new construction basements, foundations, and site developments. Proficiency in reading blueprints, understanding elevations, grade work, surveying, final excavating, and installing water/sewer lines is essential.

ResponsibilitiesOperate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, and loaders.Excavate for new construction basements, foundations, and site developments.Read and interpret blueprints, understand elevations and grade work.Survey, perform final excavating, and install water/sewer lines.Lead and manage a crew of 2+ operators on various projects.Communicate with clients as needed during project execution.Start and run projects independently from start to finish.Essential Skills3+ years experience operating heavy equipment such as large excavators and bulldozers.Ability to read blueprints and understand elevations.Proficient in grading, civil construction, fine grading, and trenching.Experience in underground utility and utility construction.Operator certification required.Valid driver's license.Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of Dane County and navigational skills.Experience digging basements/foundations independently.Proficiency in using GPS for equipment operation.Why Work Here

Work Environment

Work on commercial job sites in various weather conditions, including hot, cold, and rainy days. Join a team of 12-14 employees with crews of 2-4 depending on the project. Start your day at the shop and head to the job site, working summer hours from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm. Steel toe boots are required, and personal hand tools such as bags, tape, and hammers must be provided. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including vests are provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
