About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team. This position is focused on commercial construction projects, specifically the installation of underground utilities for new builds. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating heavy machinery and a strong understanding of utility installation processes.
You will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment—including excavators, loaders, and skid steers—to perform tasks such as trenching, pipe laying, backfilling, and grading. This is a hands-on role that also requires manual labor, including digging and pipe placement.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperate heavy equipment safely and efficiently on active commercial construction sites.Excavate trenches and install underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drain, etc.).Backfill and compact trenches to meet project specifications.Perform fine grading to a tolerance of +/- 0.10 feet.Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and grade stakes.Use laser levels and other grade-checking tools to ensure accuracy.Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance.Work collaboratively with crew members and supervisors to meet project deadlines.Assist with manual labor tasks as needed, including shoveling, pipe alignment, and site cleanup.Required QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment, particularly track hoes, in underground utility and grading work.Proficient in the use of excavators, loaders, and skid steers.Strong understanding of earthworks, trench safety, and utility installation.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes.Skilled in using levels, lasers, and other grading tools.Preferred QualificationsValid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).OSHA 10 or 30 certification.Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Strong work ethic with a commitment to safety and quality.Willingness to learn and take direction; open to training and advancement.Why Join Us?Year-Round Employment: Stable, long-term work with consistent hours.Full Benefits from Day One: Health, dental, vision, and more.Career Growth: Opportunities for advancement into leadership roles as we expand into new markets.Family-Oriented Culture: Supportive team environment that values hard work, integrity, and mutual respect.How to ApplySubmit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and availability. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
