HEAVY EQUIPMENT Operator 22+/HR 1st Shift
Job Title: Heavy Equipment OperatorJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator to transport salt and other materials within our expansive mine. This role involves loading, hauling, and unloading materials efficiently while strictly adhering to all safety regulations and operational procedures.

ResponsibilitiesMove material with heavy equipment underground.Transport salt across the mine using heavy equipment.Inspect finished products to ensure they meet required specifications.Assist the maintenance department with preventive maintenance on equipment when necessary.Operate a forklift and other heavy equipment to move salt throughout the mine.Complete assigned paperwork accurately for specific customers/orders.Perform daily housekeeping tasks.Essential SkillsExperience with heavy equipment operating, including excavators, dump trucks, and haul trucks.Safety-conscious mindset with a 'see something, say something' attitude.Ability to work underground comfortably.Capability to lift 50+ lbs repetitively during a 10-hour shift.Wearing steel-toed boots/shoes is mandatory.Additional Skills & QualificationsLong-term heavy equipment operating experience within a mine setting is preferred.Why Work Here?

Employees are eligible for merit-based raises and a 13% monthly incentive and attendance bonus after a 120-day probationary period. As part of Local 324 Union, employees receive BCBS benefits with 80% of costs covered by the company when direct. A 4% match for 401K is available, along with holiday, vacation, and sick pay after 90 days. A 60-cent shift premium is offered for the 3rd shift.

Work Environment

This position is located in a salt mine 1100 feet below ground, which feels like a large warehouse rather than a confined space. The environment can be hot or cold, requiring adaptability to varying temperatures. Shifts are Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM for the 1st shift and Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM for the 3rd shift, with a minimum of 50 hours per week and occasional Saturday work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46384.00 - $47632.00/yr.
