Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Field Mechanic
Denver, CO, USA | Hourly | 30-45 per hour | Full Time | Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K Match Position Summary This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repair, and service of fleet trucks and heavy equipment. Knowledge, skills and abilities: + Have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. + Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed. + Perform highly skilled and complex mechanical repairs on heavy equipment, including, but not limited to excavators, loaders, graders and commercial vehicles. + Ability to do math, follow verbal and written instruction. + Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. + Basic knowledge of computers. Task and Work Activities: + Ensure all repairs and preventative maintenance are completed according to the manufacture's specifications and guidelines. + Provide safe and reliable vehicles upon completion of repairs and preventative maintenance. + Repairs or replaces defective parts. + Perform servicing company vehicles and equipment according to company procedures as required. + Perform other duties and projects as assigned. + Lubricates and cleans parts. + Identify and report vehicle and machine damage, safety concerns and malfunctions to supervisor. + Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system. + Observes all Federal, State, Local and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties. + Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area. + Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with drivers, operators, and technicians. + Diagnose causes of any malfunction and perform repair. + Inspects equipment conditions (wear, alignment, function, etc.) and monitors oil flow and temperature observing gauges to measure performance. + Work hours adjusted to meet the project's needs, days, nights and weekends. + Able to work in adverse weather conditions, hot or cold temperatures. Education, Requirements and Experience: + 2 + years of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and machinery + Some welding and fabrication experience is preferred + Experience utilizing aftertreatment systems, CAT, ET, and SIS. + You must have your own and be skilled in the operation of a variety of tools and equipment used in the repair of trucks and heavy equipment.
