**Job Title: Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic**
**Job Description**
Join a pioneering maintenance program where you will travel to various locations ensuring machinery operates at peak performance. This flexible role focuses on repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment while adhering to health and safety standards. The role may evolve into more permanent opportunities as the program progresses.
**Responsibilities**
+ Strictly adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
+ Repair and replace malfunctioning machinery components.
+ Maintain operating condition of industrial production machinery.
+ Reassemble equipment after inspections, testing, or repairs.
+ Operate repaired machinery to verify adequacy of repairs.
+ Record repairs and maintenance activities.
+ Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment.
+ Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication.
+ Read and interpret operating manuals and technical drawings.
+ Provide assistance for special projects within the yard.
+ Perform welding tasks on wheel stands, rack arms, and fences as needed.
+ Support the internal control process by understanding and communicating defined controls.
+ Report operational problems, policy violations, or illegal actions.
**Essential Skills**
+ Proficiency in troubleshooting heavy equipment.
+ Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
+ Experience in diesel mechanics and electrical repairs.
+ Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
+ Mechanical troubleshooting and forklift repair skills.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ High School diploma or GED Certification required.
+ 5 years of experience in heavy equipment repair.
+ Associates degree in Heavy Duty Truck or Heavy Equipment Repair is preferred.
+ Valid driver's license required.

**Work Environment**
Work in metal recycling yards starting at 6-7 am each day. Rotate through 9 different locations every 6 weeks. Exposure to all weather conditions, physical hazards like noise and fumes, necessitating the use of safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, and face shields. Expect irregular work schedules with potential extra hours on weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rancho Cordova, California.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
