Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic
**Job Title: Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic** **Job Description** This position is part of a new maintenance program. The candidate will be responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Travel is required, but overnight stays are rare. **Responsibilities** + Strictly adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. + Provide a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors. + Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment. + Maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment. + Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs. + Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs. + Record repairs and maintenance performed. + Repair and replace damaged or worn parts. + Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications. + Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles. + Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings. + Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices. + Provide assistance throughout the yard as needed. + Perform special projects as assigned. + Support the Company's Internal Control process by understanding, communicating, and complying with defined internal controls. + Communicate problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions. **Essential Skills** + Troubleshooting + Heavy equipment repair + Hydraulics + Pneumatics + Diesel mechanics + Mechanical repair + Electrical repair + Blueprint and schematic reading + Mechanical troubleshooting + Forklift repair **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + High School diploma or GED Certification required + 5 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment + Associates degree in Heavy Duty Truck or Heavy Equipment Repair with 2 years of relevant experience may also be considered + Valid driver's license and ability to drive an automobile + Ability to stand for up to 12 hours a day, lift and carry up to 100 pounds occasionally, crouch or bend at the knees, stoop or bend at the waist, reach at arms length or overhead, twist and turn at the neck and trunk, walk on uneven ground, handle and grasp tools and parts, and communicate by speech and hearing + Visual acuity needed for close detail work + Mental dexterity to work independently with attention to detail and continuous awareness **Why Work Here?** Join a pioneering maintenance program with opportunities for growth. Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, and face shields are required. The position follows a 6-week rotation across 9 different locations including Rancho, Sacramento, Antelope, Rocklin, Chico, Redding, and two in Nevada: Carson City and Sparks. The start time is 6-7 am each day. Be prepared for handling multiple safety and maintenance issues, with potential for extra hours on weekends, weekdays, and holidays. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rancho Cordova, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
