**Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic - Georgia - Rochelle, Georgia (Job Number: 630013)** **Job Summary:** The Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic supports Solar construction operations by performing inspection, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of heavy equipment and fleet vehicles used on large-scale Solar projects. This role is critical to ensuring equipment uptime, safety compliance, and job-ready condition across active and transitioning project sites, often in remote or fast-paced environments. **Key Responsibilities:** + Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy construction equipment commonly used on Solar projects, including earthmoving equipment, pile driving equipment, forklifts, telehandlers, generators, compressors, and support vehicles. + Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, powertrains, and emissions systems using manufacturer diagnostics and computerized test equipment. + Safely dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists, cranes, and hand tools, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications. + Troubleshoot, rewire, and repair electrical and control systems as needed. + Conduct welding and fabrication repairs using Torch, Stick, MIG, TIG, and ARC welding methods. + Ensure all equipment arriving at or leaving a project site is **job-ready (turnkey)** for immediate use or redeployment. + Support field operations by assisting equipment operators with pre-use inspections and ensuring adherence to equipment safety standards. + Research, order, track, and maintain parts inventory to support timely repairs and minimize downtime. + Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings. + Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and compliance records. + Demonstrate working knowledge of **FMCSA and DOT compliance requirements** applicable to fleet vehicles and equipment. + Identify opportunities for equipment reliability improvements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. + Follow all safety policies, report accidents and near misses, and participate in investigations as required. + Communicate effectively with Equipment Managers, project teams, and operators to coordinate repairs and prioritize operational needs. + Travel to multiple Solar project sites, as needed, to support equipment maintenance and repair demands **Required Qualifications** + Strong working knowledge of commercial construction and heavy equipment, including design, use, repair, and preventive maintenance. + Minimum age of 21. + Unrestricted driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). + Welding proficiency using Torch, Stick, MIG, TIG, and ARC processes. + Ability to obtain and maintain a **DOT (Non-CDL) Medical Card** . + Ability to obtain a **Class A CDL within 12 months of hire** , if required. + Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and equipment/fleet management systems. + Ability to meet all pre-employment onboarding and safety requirements. **Preferred Qualifications** + Five (5) or more years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic or Technician. + Experience supporting **Solar or large-scale renewable energy construction projects** . + Familiarity with Solar-specific equipment and project-based fleet operations. + Willingness and ability to travel across multiple states and work in outdoor, remote, or challenging site conditions. **Physical:** + Must comply with PCL’s drug and alcohol abuse policy. + Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by PCL. + Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways. + Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.) + Able to carry 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials. PCL policy requires getting assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director. + Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.). + Must work all hours needed at the jobsite and possible weekends with short notice. **Safety/Environment:** + Knowledge solar construction site hazards which may require special precautions and PPE.
