As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will provide technical services in the areas of heavy equipment repair and support. You will be involved in the assembly, fabrication, and repair of military, commercial, and construction vehicles, as well as vehicle prototype platforms. Your role will include documenting repairs or installations of new systems and assessing any implications on vehicle performance. You will also assist government engineers and technicians in the design and development of military vehicles.
ResponsibilitiesPerform fabrication, welding, and repair work on military vehicles.Conduct preventative maintenance on ground vehicles, including tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake changes.Carry out heavy repairs on diesel and gasoline engines, automatic transmissions, drive systems, steering, suspension, brakes, electronics, and heating/AC systems.Provide technical services for system integration functions requiring knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, mechanics, fabrication, assembly, physical prototyping, analysis, troubleshooting, and integration of new systems.Tear down and build up vehicles and heavy equipment.Document repairs or installations of new systems and identify any changes to vehicle performance.
Essential SkillsProficiency in heavy equipment repair and vehicle repair.Experience in fabrication and TIG welding.Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems.Experience with prototype vehicles.Valid driver's license.Experience with military vehicles, either aircraft or ground vehicles.Knowledge of diesel engines, CDL-B, automatic transmissions, HVAC systems, and gasoline engines.
Additional Skills & QualificationsAutonomous vehicle repair, fabrication, and wrenching experience.

Work Environment
The position offers a flexible start time between 6:00 AM and 7:30 AM, with a 5-day workweek consisting of 8-hour days. You will be working on various ground vehicles, and the job may evolve into higher-level maintenance positions over time. The work environment involves using technologies like multimeters, and experience with tracing wires and fuse boxes is essential.
