CORE JOB SUMMARY


The Healthcare Strategy and Transformation (S&T) Manager contributes to University of Miami Health System's (UHealth) success by providing strategic, transformational, and business development support to UHealth leaders. The Manager – Health System plays an integral role in helping to define the future of UHealth and drives complex, critical business initiatives by directly partnering with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders across the organization. This role leads initiatives with limited oversight ensuring delivery and completion of the entire lifecycle – including idea generation, initiative scoping & standup, approach and workplan development, analysis on priority topics, financial modeling, presentation development / delivery, and follow-through to value delivery. The S&T Manager will also support the planning and delivery of the UHealth enterprise-wide strategic agenda. The Manager is able to independently drive progress, occasionally direct junior team members, and course correct as needed to ensure efforts are driving value. The Manager proactively identifies and carries out next steps, confirming alignment with S&T leadership. The role contributes to UHealth’s market awareness by developing and applying market intelligence, competitive insights, and quantitative analysis to help leaders understand external trends, competitive dynamics, and their implications for strategic priorities and decision-making.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS


1.    Acts as a strategic consultant/advisor the broader UHealth enterprise on high priority projects and initiatives and orchestrates complex initiatives across the organization with support from leadership. 
2.    Leads formulation and delivery of strategic initiatives. Defines strategic objectives and associated metrics to allow a ‘strategic view’ of organizational progress; prepares project design and analytics approach to work for review and input by strategy leadership; manages multiple work streams/projects efficiently.
3.    Leverages knowledge, skills and relationships in order to rapidly develop frameworks, define work approaches, conduct analysis, generate insights, and communicate those insights to support / influence strategy and transformation agenda. 
4.    Develops and maintains a strong understanding of the external environment through market intelligence, competitive analysis, quantitative market data, and horizon scanning to inform UHealth’s strategic priorities.
5.    Leverages existing industry knowledge and effectively applies it to UHealth objectives to translate external trends and best practices into practical, organization-specific solutions.
6.    Builds strong relationships across clinical, academic, operational, and administrative teams to understand internal priorities, constraints, and opportunities, and to ensure market insights are grounded in UHealth’s real-world context.
7.    Synthesizes analytics and key insights into complete presentations outlining objectives, analysis and findings, and recommendations. Presents findings to (S&T) team, mid- and senior-level stakeholders, and provides assistance in developing presentations that will be presented to large audiences, including UHealth’s executive leadership team.
8.    Designs and undertakes complex quantitative and qualitative assessments, and conducts primary research as appropriate, to support the development of evidence-based strategy.
9.    Manages, manipulates, and analyzes multiple large and complex financial, operational, and strategic data sets and data sources; Highly skilled in using Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, and other tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize high level data. Demonstrates eagerness to experiment and leverage new AI tools in delivery of work.
10.    Collaborates and builds rapport with all levels of the organization ensuring a positive image is conveyed to internal and external partners and stakeholders. Inspires confidence in recommendations among senior leaders.
11.    Demonstrates high emotional intelligence with deftness in navigating and driving results within complex organizations with multiple stakeholders. 
12.    Contributes to team’s work and culture, supports colleagues, builds collective capabilities of the S&T team, and plays a vocal part in team meetings. 
13.    Solicits and incorporates feedback effectively; understands different perspectives within the organization.
14.    Manages/supervises/develops S&T Interns, Analysts, and Associates, as assigned.
15.    Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

1.    Brings a deep understanding of how academic health systems operate, including the integration of clinical, research, and education priorities and the unique governance and operating models of academic medicine
2.    Owns strategy work for the academic health system enterprise, spanning clinical care delivery, research growth, and medical education missions
3.    Works effectively across organizational lines with departments, schools, institutes, and enterprise functions spanning clinical, research, and education operations, including shared services
4.    Leads enterprise strategy and decision support for academic health system growth and optimization, including the development of business cases that address strategic rationale, operational feasibility, market impact, and financial implications

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
 

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, other) highly preferred


Experience:
•    4+ years of total work experience or 3+ years of consulting experience at a top-tier consulting firm (inclusive of time enrolled in advanced degree if relevant)
•   Health system strategy and transformation experience preferred 

•   Strategy, transformation, or business development experience preferred
•   People management experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•   Ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships

•    Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
•    Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data
•    Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office)
•    Superior skills in Excel (pivot tables) and Power Point
•    Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative, team environment
•    Ability to perform in and adapt to a dynamic environment
