The Position At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For 12 weeks, interns will be immersed in the environment of a 24/7 commercial scale bio-production facility and contribute to the business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. The Health & Safety intern will work within our EHS team to take the lead on a project to draft a written safety policy and training program governing the use of Powered Industrial Vehicles (forklifts, pallet jacks, mechanical lifts, etc.) at our site. This project will involve benchmarking with other Novo Nordisk sites to understand and implement best practices from existing similar policies, and create a milestone schedule for implementation. This internship will also get to experience a variety of essential EHS functions including: workplace safety programs, incident investigation methodology, environmental compliance and reporting, and waste management within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Prior workplace safety related training, or OSHA certification is a plus. This role is based onsite at our West Lebanon, NH bio-production facility. Work schedule is: Monday-Friday 8am-430pm. Program Start: May 26, 2026. Program End: August 14, 2026. Relationships Reports to: Manager, EHS Essential Functions + Write policy proposal for training program and policy governing use of Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV) at our facility + Conduct research within internal company documents to understand best practices for PIV policies and practices at other sites + Coordinate with stakeholders at other Novo Nordisk facilities to understand their PIV policies and implementation plan + Participate in investigations of minor accidents or incidents under the direction of an on-site EHS professional + Support evaluations and approvals of new chemical and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) + Conduct assessment of storage conditions, compatibility, capacity limits, and documentation of hazardous chemicals + Support periodic inspections of emergency response systems and equipment + Participate in collection, labelling, storage, and shipping of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes under the direction of an on-site EHS professional + Collect data for environmental compliance and reporting under the direction of an on-site EHS professional + Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a compliant and ethical manner and in accordance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and industry codes + Incorporates the Novo Nordisk Way and 10 Essentials in all activities and interactions with others + Other duties as assigned Qualifications + Must be currently attending an accredited four-year college or university pursing a Bachelor's or Master's degree. A degree related to safety and/or occupational health , or similar related college coursework, is preferred. + Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher + Conscientious self-starter with good organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail + Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task + Strong interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal customers + Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn + Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. + At this time, Novo Nordisk is not currently hiring individuals for this position who now or in the future would require sponsorship for employment visa status We commit to an inclusive recruitment process and equality of opportunity for all our job applicants.
