The Health Information Services Representative III is an experienced imaging information professional responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and security of radiology patient records and imaging studies. This role oversees the full lifecycle of imaging documentation, from collection and verification to organization and secure release, while ensuring all processes align with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
High School diploma required. An associate degree or three to five years’ experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Prior Radiology experience preferred. Prior experience utilizing radiology applications preferred (PACS, RIS, and DICOM). Medical terminology required. Strong attention to detail and organization skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook is required.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
Image Requests & Distribution: Process and fulfill requests for imaging studies from physicians, clinics, patients, attorneys, and outside facilities. Prepare and distribute CDs/DVDs or secure electronic transfer platforms Ensure all releases comply with state and federal regulations governing protected health information. PACS Ingestion & Data Integrity: Import outside imaging studies into PACS and verify accuracy of patient demographics. Merge studies to the correct MRN when required, ensuring proper association with the patient record. Maintain high standards of data accuracy for all ingested imaging studies. Long-Term Storage Retrieval: Locate and retrieve archived imaging studies from long-term storage systems. Validate image integrity and confirm successful restoration into PACS for clinical use. Compliance & Documentation: Uphold HIPAA and organization privacy standards in all image handling and patient data corrections. Document ingestion, merge, and correction activities thoroughly to support audit and compliance requirements. Customer Service: Provide professional, courteous, and timely assistance to patients, clinicians, and other healthcare providers. Respond to phone inquiries and assist with questions regarding imaging availability and access. Troubleshooting: Navigate application workflows and reconcile imaging studies across multiple systems. Perform basic troubleshooting of imaging applications and escalate issues appropriately. Adaptability Demonstrates comfort and confidence when navigating change. Adjusts quickly to shifting priorities, workflows, and operational needs. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and focus. Performs effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 15 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Salary Range: $19.25-$27.91 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
