This health disparities fellowship is a 12-month program designed to prepare pharmacy professionals who are interested in becoming a researcher and advocate for reducing health disparities via pharmacist provided community-based interventions. This is a limited term role.

Responsibilities The Health Disparities Fellow will work with administrators and faculty to gain valuable experience in research on health disparities and community-based pharmacist interventions that are directed towards improving patient outcomes.The fellow will gain significant experience in learning about pharmacist-provided services and its impact on patient outcomesThe fellow will also engage with our current preceptors in community-based settings to identify the nature of services provided, barriers and facilitators to the provision of those services and help design interventions in local communitiesThe fellow will work with pharmacy students and health professions student organizations to create community-based interventions and evaluate the impact of those interventions. In the process, the fellow will obtain a teaching certificate and a leadership certificateThe fellow will be exposed to the following areas:Research and Scholarship in Health Outcomes with a focus on disparitiesResearch and Scholarship in Pharmacist Provided Services and Patient Outcomes ResearchAttendance at national and local conferences that focus on health disparities and pharmacist interventions such as American Pharmacist Association (APhA) Annual Meeting Qualifications Education/ExperienceDoctor of Pharmacy required.Individuals who have completed PharmD from an ACPE accredited US pharmacy school.Applicants with a PGY-1/PGY-2 residency are also encouraged to apply. The 12-month fellowship program will begin July 1 and end June 30.Interested candidates should submit a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, official pharmacy school transcripts and three letters of recommendation.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesA high degree of interpersonal competency:professionalism, diplomacy, judgement, and discretion requiredCertifications/LicensuresRequirements include licensure or eligibility for licensure to practice pharmacy in New York State.TravelAs required Maximum Salary USD $57,000.00/Yr.
