The Head of Software , Center of Excellence is responsible for organizational excellence by integrating UX/UI, security, DevOps, and process improvement into a unified strategy that accelerates product delivery, enhances user experience, and ensures regulatory compliance across all platforms. Drive transformative initiatives that optimize engineering workflows, strengthen security posture, and foster innovation, resulting in measurable improvements in operational efficiency, product quality, and customer trust. This position reports to the Head of Software Engineering and is part of the Beckman Life Sciences Research and Development department will be USA Remote base. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: + Define and execute the vision for the Center of Excellence, aligning UX/UI, Privacy & Security, Process Improvement, and DevOps initiatives with organizational goals. + Establish best practices, frameworks, and compliance standards across all managed domains to ensure consistency and regulatory adherence. + Partner with product, engineering, and business teams to integrate UX/UI, security, and DevOps principles into the software development lifecycle. + Drive process optimization and automation strategies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and quality across engineering operations. + Ensure robust privacy and security measures are embedded in all systems and processes, mitigating risks and meeting industry regulations. + Lead and mentor managers and specialists within UX/UI, DevOps, and security teams, fostering a culture of excellence and growth. + Define KPIs and deliver regular performance reports to senior leadership, demonstrating impact on product quality, security posture, and operational efficiency. The essential requirements of the job include: + Bachelor’s Computer Engineering and 14 + years’ experience in software engineering ; or Master’s/Doctoral and 12+ years and at least 4 + years in a leadership role managing a multi-disciplinary teams (UX/UI, DevOps, Security) . + Deep understanding of UX/UI principles, DevOps practices, privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA), and security frameworks (ISO, NIST). + Strong background in Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma methodologies for driving operational excellence. + Familiarity with modern development stacks, CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and security tools. + Experience in life sciences or highly regulated industries, ensuring adherence to data privacy and security standards. + Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value and influence executive stakeholders. + Demonstrated success in leading organizational transformation and implementing new processes at scale . The annual salary range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000 . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
