Head of Market Development SEA

We are looking for a Head of Market Development Southeast Asia who is passionate, initiative and pursuing growth to join us in our East InterContinental team, based in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand etc.

 

About the role

This role includes P&L ownership, partnership management, the development and implementation of regional strategies to unlock the business potential in priority markets such as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, (with India, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines as next focus areas).

This role is accountable for the delivery of UCB patient value solutions through compliant execution of global and regional strategies tailored to local ecosystem needs, in full alignment with UCB policies and legal requirements.

 

What you’ll do

As the external engagement face of Business for UCB within the SEA region, he/she is accountable for the following deliverables/responsibilities:

Business Development & SEA Market Strategy:

Lead end-to-end business development initiatives, from opportunity assessment to partnership execution, ensuring alignment with global/regional business objectives; Develop and execute business strategies for SEA to drive growth and profitability. Ensure that strategies are tailored to each ecosystems needs, utilizing generated insightsConduct in-depth market research on SEA healthcare landscapes, including regulatory policies, competitive dynamics, and patient needs, to develop long term market development strategies and annual business plans

Partner & Distributor Management:

Spearhead the identification, evaluation, and onboarding of local distributors, healthcare providers, and strategic partners across SEA, building a robust network for product distribution and market accessNegotiate and finalize commercial agreements, defining clear KPIs, business targets, and mutual responsibilities to drive partnership successImplement a partner performance management framework, providing support to optimize collaboration efficiency and growth

Alliance Management:

Oversee the full lifecycle of strategic alliances, develop and execute an integrated and aligned alliance strategy for SEA to achieve the business goals; manage alliance governance, track performance metrics, and resolve operational challenges to maintain strong collaborative relationships.Identify new business opportunities to expand and optimize existing alliances, leveraging synergies to enhance market reach and competitive positioning.

P&L Management:

Oversee P&L management of SEA, ensure delivery in line with financial targets. Manage business performance to achieve financial and business goals.

As a key leader representing UCB Value Principles and way of conducting business, he/she is accountable for:

Operational Leadership:

Oversee all aspects of operations within SEA to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Optimize resources to meet financial targets and business objectives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Management: 

Build and maintain relationships with key customers, regulators, and internal stakeholders. Provide senior-level support and presence in relation to key stakeholders in the health systems.Manage diverse, multi-disciplinary teams and programs, resolve and overcome friction. Facilitate seamless alignment within commercial, medical affairs, and legal teams to ensure cohesive stakeholder messaging. Ensure successful product launches to maximize patient value in SEA.

Ethics and Compliance:

Ensure all operations in SEA adhere to the highest standards of ethics, compliance, and quality. Comply with UCB code of business conduct and all relevant policies and industry guidelines.

As a key leader sitting at the IC East Leadership team, he/she is accountable for:

People & Enterprise Leadership

Act as Role model UCB’s Leadership Value Principles, development and management of teams staff in matrixed environment.  Foster a culture of continuous learning, feedback and ensure alignment and collaboration with various teams, and act as a strong team builder to orchestrate the IC strategy choices.Share best practices across regions and contribute to enterprise/ IC Business initiativesEmpathetic approach towards understanding patient perspectives and needs. Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred, especially with a focus on international business or healthcare markets.

Professional Experience:

Minimum 7 years in business development, P&L management, international market expansion, ecosystem engagement within the healthcare or pharmaceutical sector. Proven track record in SEA markets strategy, with a preferred experience in priority markets such as Singapore, Malaysia and ThailandDemonstrated success in partnership management, including acquisition and onboarding of distributors, alliance governance, and performance optimization.Experience in P&L ownership, strategic planning, and operational leadership across diverse regulatory and cultural environments.Experience in market expansion, affiliate set-up will be preferred.….

 

Preferred skills:

Proven exceptional ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional projects/ teams, drive change in a dynamic environment and seek for innovationStrong Commercial & negotiation skills joined with strong cross-cultural communication skills (cultural fluency in SEA context is a plus)Strategic thinker and market analysis thinker, with the ability to translate insights into actionable business plans.​Ability to collaborate effectively within a matrixed, global organization—both as a contributing team member and as an independent, self-driven professional.Demonstrates an ability to forge strong and trusting relationships founded on an ethical and compliant focus on value creation with external bodies.
