State Street is looking for a strategic leader to serve as our Head of Information Architect and establish IA as a critical discipline within our technology and design organization. Help define how the enterprise structures, organizes, and surfaces information across complex financial systems and core digital touchpoints. Guiding and empowering digital transformation initiatives by designing intuitive information structures, taxonomies, and data modeling. Help product teams by building enterprise-wide user journeys, process maps, and conceptual information structures that transform core company processes and systems for commercial onboarding, billing, client management and coverage systems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise information architecture, thrives in highly regulated environments, and can provide insights that balance business & compliance needs with user expectations. You’ll partner with product teams, data governance and technology leaders to design scalable architectures that support transformation and product initiatives.
This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance working from home and the office to meet your needs and role requirements.
What you will be responsible for
As Head of Information Architect, you will
Own end-to-end design and analysis of information architecture models that support State Street's financial products and servicesLead deep-dive process mapping across client coverage, entitlements, approvals, and account assignmentsConvert unstructured domain knowledge into clear workflows revealing dependencies, friction points, and optimization opportunitiesModel current and future-state processes using structured identifiers and system-based logicCreate end-to-end user journeys detailing interactions, decision points, and data dependencies.Map how roles, data, and system logic determine entitlements and user experience.Define consistent system representations, such as role hierarchies and approval logicCreate durable semantic models linking operational processes to UX and technologyEngage in user/product research, translate insights, and support user-centric solutions tailored to financial professionalsTranslate process maps and conceptual models into ontologiesDevelop early-stage knowledge graph schemas connecting people, accounts, roles, approvals, and business logicDesign relationship models supporting automated entitlements and auditabilityFacilitate alignment sessions between business, data engineering, and product teamsWhat we value
These skills will help you succeed in this role
Experience leading workshops that utilize systems thinking practices to convert ambiguity into structured modelsUtilize Figma to create process diagrams, journey maps, sitemaps and product wireframesPerform user research: interviews, surveys, usability testing, and data analysis, with experience in financial user research preferredDemonstrated excellence in process modeling, information architecture, and conceptual modeling able to structure/organize content for complex financial data systemsExperience clarifying roles, approval flows, and data structuresAptitude for ontology design and semantic modelingEducation & Preferred Qualifications
10+ years’ experience in information architecture, with at least 5 years in enterprise or financial service environmentsAdditional optional requirements
Solid understanding of emerging data intelligence platforms such as Databricks and how they anchor a data-centric approach to transformationExperience with knowledge graphs, semantic web technologies, or AI powered search and classification systemsUnderstanding of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and financial industry standards (SEC, FINRASolid understanding of enterprise content management systems such as SharePointPlease provide a link to your design portfolio (or attach a PDF) with any necessary passwords.
Salary Range:
$125,000 - $215,000 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
