POSITION: Head Flyman/House Crew
REPORTS TO: Production/Technical DirectorFLSA STATUS: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Summary:
The Head Flyman will work with the Production Managers and Technical Director to supply the safe and efficient operation of all rigging, fly equipment, scenic/lighting/audio elements
that are raised, lowered, or moved through the air, via the theater counterweight system, as well as maintaining the highest safety standards in accordance with industry best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the theater’s counterweight rigging system including the safe loading and unloading of counterweights.Supervise the rigging and operation of all flown scenery, drops, electrics, and masking with additional fly personal to ensure excellent show execution.Communicate clearly, safely and responsibly with touring personnelSupervise and train the counterweight loaders.Participates in all stage related duties including sound setup, stage set-ups, stage changeovers and all stage related duties as per the TD.Provides additional support as needed for all shows.Works extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.Other stage related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required.Minimum 1-3 years operation theatrical counterweight rigging systems.Skills and Abilities:
Must possess advanced working knowledge of theatrical counterweight rigging systems.Knowledge of and skilled in technical theater, with an emphasis on rigging and carpentry. Working knowledge of essential knots as well as an understanding weights and measures as they pertain to the fly system. Knowledge of double purchase counterweight systems.Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines and to work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedules.Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to work independently and as a member of the team.Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, all levels of employees, Board of Directors, volunteers, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.Ability to work flexible hours based on events, including daytime, evening, weekends and holidays as needed.Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills a plus.
